The first message either opens a door or closes one permanently. There is no neutral outcome.

Week 4 begins. You've gone deep on 7 industries. Now you're going to put pre-sales skills into active practice. Today: the first message. Not the pain message you learned in Day 2 — that assumed you'd already done some research. Today is about cold outreach: reaching someone who doesn't know you, has never heard of WA.Expert, and has no reason yet to reply.

Most prospecting messages fail for one of three reasons: they're too generic ("Hi! I'd love to share information about our platform"), too pushy ("Book a demo now — limited slots!"), or too long (nobody reads a 200-word cold message). The ones that work are short, specific, curious, and low-commitment to reply to.

🚪
Think of a cold outreach message as knocking on a door. You don't walk into someone's home uninvited — you knock, introduce yourself briefly, and ask if they have a moment. A good cold message is a polite knock. It doesn't try to sell anything. It tries to open the door enough to have a real conversation.

The anatomy of a cold outreach message that works:

👁
One specific observation
"I noticed your restaurant takes orders on WhatsApp." Specific to them — not generic. Shows you've done 30 seconds of research.
🎯
One specific relevant problem
"Managing high volume WhatsApp orders manually is one of the most common bottlenecks for growing restaurants." Relevant. Credible. Not oversold.
🚪
One low-commitment ask
"Would it be useful to see how similar restaurants are handling this?" Not "Book a demo." Not "Buy this." Just: is this even relevant to you?
📏
Under 60 words total
Every extra word reduces the chance of a reply. If you can't say what you need to say in 60 words, you're trying to do too much in one message.

💡 The follow-up rule: If they don't reply to the first message, one follow-up after 3 days with a different angle is acceptable. Two ignored messages = they're not interested right now. Move on gracefully. Don't be the person who sends 5 follow-ups to someone who has clearly chosen not to engage.

5 questions Need 3/5 Unlimited tries Instant feedback
Question 1 of 5
What is the PRIMARY goal of a cold outreach message?
A
To explain everything about WA.Expert and get them to sign up
B
To open a door — get a reply that starts a real conversation. Nothing more.
C
To get them to book a demo immediately
D
To educate them about WhatsApp Business API
✅ Opening the door is the only goal. Not selling. Not educating. Just: get a reply that makes a real conversation possible. Everything else comes after.
❌ The only goal is a reply that opens a conversation. Not a sign-up, not a demo, not education. Just: get them to engage. Everything else is premature.
Question 2 of 5
Which cold message is MORE effective?
A
'Hi! I'm [Name] from WA.Expert. We're a WhatsApp Business API platform that helps businesses automate their customer communication with chatbots, bulk messaging, team inbox, and CRM. I'd love to share how we can help your business. Would you be interested in a quick 15-minute demo call this week?'
B
'Hi! I noticed Sharma Jewellers takes custom order enquiries on WhatsApp. During wedding season that must get intense — am I right? Happy to share how similar jewellers are managing it if useful.'
C
'URGENT: Limited time offer for WhatsApp Business API — reply now to secure your slot!'
D
'Dear Sir/Madam, please find below our product brochure for your consideration.'
✅ Option B is specific (Sharma Jewellers, custom orders), empathetic (wedding season), curious (am I right?), low-commitment ask (happy to share if useful). No pitch. Under 40 words.
❌ Option B is the answer. Specific, empathetic, curious, low-commitment. Option A is too long and pitches everything upfront. Options C and D are instantly deletable.
Question 3 of 5
How long should an ideal cold prospecting WhatsApp message be?
A
200-300 words — more detail = more serious impression
B
Under 60 words — every extra word reduces reply probability
C
500+ words — you need to explain the full product
D
Exactly 3 sentences regardless of word count
✅ Under 60 words. Cold messages are interruptions. The shorter and more specific, the higher the reply rate. Long cold messages signal that more is coming — and most people don't want that.
❌ Under 60 words is the answer. Cold messages are interruptions of someone's day. Short + specific + one ask = best reply rate. Length is the enemy of cold outreach.
Question 4 of 5
After sending a cold message that gets no reply, when and how should you follow up?
A
Follow up every day until you get a response
B
One follow-up after 3 days with a completely different angle or new piece of value — not 'just following up'. After two ignored messages, move on gracefully.
C
Never follow up — if they wanted to reply they would have
D
Follow up immediately with a lower price offer
✅ One follow-up, different angle, after 3 days. Two ignored messages = not interested right now. Gracefully moving on preserves the relationship and your own reputation.
❌ One follow-up with a new angle after 3 days. After two ignored messages: move on. Persistence beyond this point damages your reputation and the prospect's experience.
Question 5 of 5
A business owner replies to your cold message: 'We already use a tool for this.' What is the ideal response?
A
'Our product is better than what you're currently using.'
B
'That's great — mind if I ask which one? I'm always curious what's working well for businesses like yours.' Then listen — their answer tells you everything about whether there's an opportunity.
C
'You should switch to WA.Expert — here's why it's better.'
D
'Understood — not interested. Goodbye.'
✅ Curious, not defensive. Their answer tells you the competitor, what they value, and whether there's a gap. This is intelligence-gathering disguised as polite conversation.
❌ Curiosity is the answer. 'Which tool?' is not just a question — it's intelligence. Their answer tells you: the competitor, what they value, whether they're happy with it, and where WA.Expert might fit.
