Step-by-step

1

Prepare your product data

For each product: product name, description (max 1,024 chars), price (in INR), product images (minimum 1, max 10, minimum 500×500px), product URL (if you have a website), and a unique retailer_id (your SKU or product code).

2

Upload products via WA.Expert Catalogue Manager

WA.Expert → Catalogue → Add Products. Upload via CSV (for bulk import) or add individually. CSV format: id, name, description, price, image_url, availability (in stock/out of stock).

3

Connect catalogue to your WhatsApp number

Link the catalogue to your WhatsApp Business account in WA.Expert → Settings → Catalogue → Link Catalogue. The catalogue is now accessible from your WhatsApp profile and can be shared in messages.

4

Set up automated catalogue sharing

Configure a chatbot flow: when a customer messages with keywords like "price", "product", "catalogue", "what do you sell" — automatically send a catalogue message with your product collection.

5

Handle incoming cart messages

When a customer adds products to cart in WhatsApp and messages you, WA.Expert receives the order details (product IDs, quantities). Configure an automated response: "Thanks for your order! Here's your total: ₹X. Pay via UPI [button]."

What works in the Indian market

1

Pricing in INR — always show MRP

List price in INR. Include both MRP and selling price in description if discounted. Indian customers are price-sensitive — showing the discount amount ("Save ₹200") increases conversion.

2

WhatsApp-optimised product images

Use clean white or light background images. Show the product clearly. 800×800px is ideal. Avoid heavy text overlays — WhatsApp compresses images. Show multiple angles if possible.

3

Festive catalogue updates

Create seasonal catalogue versions for Diwali, Eid, Holi, etc. Activate the festive catalogue 2 weeks before the festival. Automate a broadcast to opted-in contacts: "🎉 Diwali Collection is live! View catalogue →".

4

Catalogue + payment link combination

When a customer messages after browsing the catalogue, send an automated response with order summary and Razorpay/Cashfree payment link. This completes the sale without a website.

Common questions

Can I sell products via WhatsApp Catalogue without a website?
Yes — WhatsApp Catalogue is designed for businesses without e-commerce websites. The customer browses products in WhatsApp, sends you a cart message or inquiry, and you send a payment link to complete the sale. Hundreds of thousands of Indian kirana stores, boutiques, and small manufacturers sell exclusively via WhatsApp Catalogue.
How many products can I add to WhatsApp Catalogue?
WhatsApp Business App supports up to 500 products per catalogue. Via WhatsApp Business API (WA.Expert), you can have catalogues with 10,000+ products synced from your e-commerce platform or ERP. For large catalogues, use the product set feature to create curated collections (e.g., "Summer Collection", "Under ₹500").
Can WhatsApp Catalogue sync with Shopify or WooCommerce?
Yes — WA.Expert can sync your Shopify or WooCommerce product catalogue to WhatsApp automatically. When you update a product price or availability in Shopify, it reflects in your WhatsApp catalogue within minutes. This eliminates manual catalogue management for e-commerce businesses.
Do customers need to download anything to see my WhatsApp Catalogue?
No — WhatsApp Catalogue is natively available within the WhatsApp app. Any WhatsApp user (on Android or iPhone) can view your catalogue by tapping the catalogue button on your business profile, without downloading anything extra.
Can I run WhatsApp Catalogue in Hindi or other regional languages?
Yes — product names, descriptions, and messages can be in any Indian language. Many Indian businesses run catalogues with product names in Hindi (especially for regional markets) with prices in INR. Devanagari and all major Indian scripts render correctly in WhatsApp.
