Connect any tool with the External API Request step

When a tool is not in our list of ready integrations, the External API Request step bridges the gap. It lets an automation call any external API, send data out, and use the response, without writing server code.

When to use it

Use it to push a new contact into a system you run, fetch an order status from your own backend, or trigger an action in any service that has an API. If you can describe the API call, the step can make it.

Set it up

Add an External API Request step to your automation.

Enter the URL, method (GET or POST), and any headers, such as an authorisation token.

Map data from the conversation into the request body using variables.

Use the response in later steps, for example to send the customer a status you fetched.

Keep keys safe

Store API keys in the step's header field, not in message text. They stay server-side and are never shown to the customer.
