The automation builder runs WhatsApp workflows in the background. Where the bot builder starts from a customer message in a chat, an automation starts from an event: a webhook, a CRM change, a new order, a missed call, or a schedule. It can message a customer first, send alerts, update records, and call other systems on its own.
Use the bot builder for menus, FAQs, bookings, and anything that happens inside a live chat. Use the automation builder for order alerts, reminders, drip sequences, and app-to-WhatsApp flows that start from an event rather than a message.
A bot can hand data to an automation, and an automation can start a bot flow. Most mature setups use both.
