Register a co-existing WhatsApp number

Coexistence lets you put a number that is currently on the WhatsApp Business app onto the API without losing your existing chats. The number keeps working in the app while also gaining API powers like automation, bulk sending, and a team inbox.

When to use this

Choose coexistence if your number is already on the WhatsApp Business app and you want to keep using the app while adding API features. If the number is not on WhatsApp at all, use the new-number registration instead.

How it works

During the Facebook connection step you select the existing number rather than creating a fresh one. Meta links it to your WhatsApp Business Account while leaving the app installed and working. You then set the two-factor PIN as usual.

Start Add New Channel and connect with Facebook.

When prompted for the number, choose the one already on your WhatsApp Business app.

Complete Meta verification and finish the embedded signup.

Back in WA.Expert, create the channel and set the two-factor PIN.

Keep the app for now

With coexistence the app keeps working alongside the API. Test your flows before you rely on the API entirely.
