When an action fails, Meta often returns an error code. You do not need to memorise them, but knowing how to read one helps you find the cause fast.
Note the code and message shown, then match it to the action you were doing. Errors at send time usually point to the 24-hour window, a template problem, or a quality limit. Errors at registration point to the number, OTP, or PIN. Errors on an API call point to auth, the phone number ID, or the request body.
A window or session error means you need a template. A template error means the template is unapproved, paused, or wrong. A limit error means you have hit your tier cap. An auth error on the API means a wrong token or version. Match the code to the action and the fix usually follows.
If a code is not obvious, send us the exact code and what you were doing. Because we answer on WhatsApp, we can usually tell you the cause quickly.
