Set up the WhatsApp Conversions API

The Meta Conversions API (CAPI) lets you send conversion events — such as a lead captured, a form submitted, or a payment completed — from your WhatsApp bot directly to Meta. These events appear in Ads Manager for campaign optimisation, retargeting audiences, and attribution reporting.

Step 1: Create a dataset

Go to Channels in WA.Expert.

Open WhatsApp Channel Configuration and click on the WhatsApp channel icon.

Select Manage Data Set for Conversions API.

Click Create New Data Set.

Enter a name for the dataset (e.g., WhatsApp Bot Events).

Click Create Data Set.

Step 2: Add a conversion event to your bot

Go to Bot Builder and open the bot flow where you want to track a conversion.

Identify the step that represents a conversion — for example, when a user confirms interest, submits their details, or completes a payment.

Add a node at that step → Native Tools → Send Conversion Event.

Select the Data Set you created in Step 1.

Choose the Conversion Event type (e.g., Lead, Purchase, CompleteRegistration).

Add any custom event data if needed (optional).

Save the bot flow and publish.

Step 3: Verify in Meta

Open Meta Ads Manager.

Go to Events Manager.

Find your dataset and check that events are being received.

Use these events to create custom audiences for retargeting or to optimise campaigns for conversion.
What events to track

Track events at the highest-value moments: when a user qualifies as a lead (answers your qualifying questions), when they confirm an appointment, or when they complete a payment. Do not track every message — only meaningful conversion points.
